Mentoring
The Student Success Mentoring Program is designed to provide incoming students the opportunity to connect one-on-one with a member of UNT’s faculty and staff. Although most of the students who participate as mentees in the program are Emerald Eagle Scholars who choose to participate during their first year of enrollment, other incoming students have the opportunity to request mentors as well. The goals of this program are to connect new students to the UNT community, to encourage the use of campus resources, and to promote the four-year graduation plan.
The program matches faculty and staff mentors with a student mentee based on interests reported on the respective applications. Faculty and staff mentors are asked to interact with their mentees at least once each month. Interactions can be via phone, e-mail, or in person.
